Dr. Emily von Scheven is a pediatric rheumatologist with a special interest in the long-term health and wellbeing of children growing up with chronic medical conditions. She takes a life-course perspective to health because many important adult outcomes have their origins in childhood. Dr von Scheven has worked at UCSF since 1995 and is the 2020 Recipient of the UCSF Health Exceptional Physician Award. Together with patients, Dr von Scheven and her team are developing new approaches to caring for children growing up with chronic medical conditions. We welcome your thoughts and suggestions.

Sydney Gressel is a pediatric nurse practitioner who takes a holistic approach to help patients with chronic illnesses achieve greater wellness and life balance. Sydney empowers patients with coping skills and stress reduction techniques to foster resiliency and improve quality of life. She received her bachelor's degree in Buddhism from Naropa University, followed by a second bachelor’s in nursing from Samuel Merritt University, and subsequently completed her master's degree at UCSF to become a Nurse Practitioner. Sydney lives in San Francisco with her two daughters and has been working at UCSF since 2018.

Kristine Kwok is a social worker who supports patients and families living with chronic conditions on their wellness journeys. She is passionate about providing care that is sensitive to personal histories of trauma and about guiding patients and families on learning skills that may enhance their well-being. Kristine earned her master's degree in social welfare at the University of California, Berkeley and was trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) by EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs.
